Agentic AI in the Legal Profession

Everyone knows about AI in general these days. It is creeping speedily into all professions, but particularly those that deal with words. As it turns out, that includes lawyers, particularly those that draft long, rote, detailed documents that attempt (sometimes failing) to be consistent and fit a particular form. Who knew that AI would potentially be perfect for preparing patent documents?!

Agentic AI is a particular sub-category of AI that performs tasks autonomously or semi-autonomously. Our partner, Jonathan Pearce, has been asked to speak next week at an event for lawyers, by lawyers, on AI and its present state of applicability to the legal profession. The following Monday, Mr. Pearce will deliver the same talk (at least roughly) as a part of the SoCal IP Institute talk on Agentic AI. The materials are available here. This talk should qualify for 0.5 hours of Technology training and 0.5 hours of Ethics training as the current state of agentic AI tools are discussed in connection with the California Rules of Professional Conduct applicability to agentic AI.

Jonathan Pearce, a partner at SoCal IP Law Group LLP, will lead the discussion.
