Who are the people in your neighborhood? Our neighborhood includes the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. The CAFC currently has 19 sitting judges. Here’s a list of the judges with links to their bios. The judges have diverse and interesting backgrounds. The bench includes a Chief Judge. Ever wonder how the chief judge gets selected, or how appellate judges get selected? How do the backgrounds of individual judges impact their opinions? Are the judges fungible? Normally, CAFC cases are heard by a subgroup of three judges. Does the specific makeup of the panel matter? We’ll be discussing all this and more at our next SoCal IP Institute meeting on Monday, May 9 at noon. The discussion will be led by SoCal IP partner Steve Sereboff.
