For our weekly SoCal IP Institute meeting on Monday, July 1st, 2019, we will discuss the recent Supreme Court decision Iancu v. Brunetti.

Erik Brunetti sought federal registration of the trademark FUCT. The Patent and Trademark Office (PTO) denied the application under 15 U. S. C. §1052(a) of the Lanham act which prohibits registration of trademarks that consist or are comprised of immoral or scandalous matter. The Supreme Court found that §1052(a) violated the first amendment.

All are invited to join us on Monday July 1st, 2019, at noon in our Westlake Village office. This activity is approved for 1 hour of MCLE credit. If you will be joining us, please RSVP to Elisha Manzur by 9 am Monday morning.
