Please join us on Monday, November 13, 2023 at Noon, where we will discuss the issue of master ownership and the legal copyright conflicts between record labels and artists. Taylor Swift may be the first to make this copyright issue truly public, leaving fans wondering who really owns Swift’s music and why. She says she will re-record her albums in order to make them hers, but is she legally permitted to do so? Other prevalent artists in the past faced similar conflicts with their record labels, including Prince, the Beatles, Janet Jackson, and Def Leppard, among others. Marina Lang, Partner at SoCal IP, will lead this discussion about the copyright in songs. All are invited to join us in our discussion during the SoCal IP Institute meeting on Monday at Noon in our Westlake Village office. This activity is approved for 1 hour of MCLE credit. If you will be joining us, please RSVP to elisham @socalip.com by 9 am Monday morning.
